How about Ham and Bananas Hollandaise? Looks pretty easy to make. And, it feeds you and five of your friends.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
6 medium bananas
1/4 cup lemon juice
6 thin slices boiled ham (about 1/2 lb)
3 tablespoons prepared mustard
2 envelopes (1 1/4-oz size) hollandaise sauce mix
1/4 cup light cream
1. Preheat oven to 400F. Lightly butter 2-quart, shallow baking dish.
2. Peel bananas; sprinkle each with 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice, to prevent darkening.
3. Spread ham slices with mustard. Wrap each banana in slice of ham. Arrange in single layer in casserole. Bake 10 minutes.
4. Meanwhile, make sauce: In small saucepan, combine sauce mix with 1 cup water, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, and cream. Heat, stirring, to boiling; pour over bananas. Bake 5 minutes longer, or until slightly golden. Nice with a green salad for brunch or lunch. Makes 6 servings.

As odd as it looks at first ... it actually doesn’t look that bad.
Then again, I’m fasting right now so I’m about ready to eat the microphone on my headset, so maybe I’m not the one to ask.

Ham and Hollandaise? Yes please, all day long. But bananas with Hollandaise? I can’t get there.

Is this from the Gallery of Regrettable Food?
I’m making anxiety sauce. Recipe and pics to come.

I guess it’s going to have to go in to the “hawaiian pizza” category - not for everybody.

Needs more gelatin, but still looks tasty!
they could have at least cut off the hard bits at the ends of the bananas
though.

I’d have to eat three if this was what I was having for lunch. So my 5 friends would need to be not hungry.
Maybe could stand a drizzle of sriracha.

I think the ends are burned from being in the oven.

Drizzle some chocolate and wasabi on the top for a fancy flourish!

6 thin slices boiled ham (about 1/2 lb)
Mmmm, sounds like we have everything we need for a nice bowl of Hot Ham Water on the side too!

That was my first thought, as well.

Anxiety sauce? Is that bourbon, a dash of bitters, muddled sugar and a cherry? That has gotta be it.

Crush up a couple Xanax & a Valium in there for extra-strength anxiety relief.

I had a local favorite, Strawberry Spam Surprise!
(It consists of generous amounts of all three, in case you’re wondering....)

Replace the bananas with plantains and it becomes a celebrity chef ’s fancy menu item at an avant guard, exclusive restaurant.

That’s exactly what it should be. Sadly, I have no bourbon. This sauce is for the fam and maybe a neighbor.

You just need to sprinkle some raisins on that and it’ll be perfect!

Do it, it was really good. We used it as Gyro filler and it really tasted just like restaurant gyro meat.

I actually do like attempting bizarre mid century recipes from time to time for the hell of it, but have never tried this one. Somewhat tempted though.
The cream cheese and bologna cake was surprisingly not terrible, though. Basically just a different method of serving onion dip.

That’s pretty impressive to have that whole box set. I bet he paid a premium for that somewhere. My mom had the beginnings of that set. I know she had the box. I seem to recall receiving shrink wrapped packets of cards in the mail every month or so . That dude’s Hollandaise looks pretty sketchy. So the verdict, not bad, but weird. That’s probably pretty accurate.

I’ve had a lot of gyros in my day, and the best one I ever got was from a food truck on the Mall in Washington DC. So good in fact that a few chunks of meat fell in the dirt where a million people had walked that day and I picked it up and ate it. But what I really want to do is just stand next to the spit with a knife and fork and see how much of a dent I could put in that spinning goodness.

Being a kid in the 70s, though, and living with my single mom for a while, I know a lot of these recipes are meant to be made on a budget or with what you may have around.

Somebody posted a video of a guy who made this very recipe (the ham banana one). The verdict: not terrible, but weird.

After I made the meat loaf I cut off thin slices and pan seared them to give them that hot and crispy taste. Otherwise it’s just meat loaf.

Yeah, there are some combinations of these ingredients that play nice - ham and hollandaise, great; ham and bananas, maybe a little odd, but I'll give it to you; bananas and hollandaise, nope; all three together, also nope.

Turkey Pesto Avocado with an unexpected but really good red pepp er aioli from a local spot called The Pharmacy. It almost made working through lunch worth it.

It’s funny you say that, the best shawarma I’ve had in the US was from a food truck in D.C. Just like what I’d get in Cairo.

That looks tasty.

The guy who made it had probably gotten off a plane from Cairo not long before.

Which is how I think most of these tend to turn out. Yeah, they're edible and you won't spit them out, but, not exactly what you'd pick if you had a choice.

My Great Aunt would always make “pineapple salad” a leaf of iceberg, pineapple ring from a can and a dollop of Mayonnaise sprinkled with sharp cheddar cheese .

That does not sound good to me.
